Respirator Fit Test - Train the Trainer

Our Respiratory Fit Test - Train the Trainer course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills in the selection, safe use, maintenance, and documentation involved with respiratory protective equipment.

The training consists of an online course, which can be completed at your own pace, followed by a timed final exam, and an in-person practical assessment of conducting a Respiratory Fit Test utilizing irritant smoke.

Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will have the tools necessary to perform Respiratory Fit Tests on personnel within their company.

This training is compliant with CSA-Z94.4-18 (Selection, use, and care of respirators).

Practical

  • User Seal Check Assessment (walk a trainee through the User Seal Check)
  • Qualitative Fit Test Assessment (walk a trainee through the Qualitative Fit Test and complete the Respiratory Fit and Inspection Test Form)
  • Qualitative Fit Test (the student will have a Fit Test done on them by the Instructor for their own certification to wear Respiratory Protection PPE

Frequently Asked Questions

What level of English do my workers or I need to have to attend the course?

All students attending our courses should have a minimum of B2 English reading, speaking, and listening abilities. If you or your workers have limited English comprehension, your company will need to arrange for a translator to be present at the class.

How long does the certificate last for?

Upon passing the course, the certificate will be valid for 3 years. This is the industry standard duration for training renewal.

Do I need to bring any equipment to the class?

A personal half or full-face mask will be required for the User Seal Check and Qualitative Fit Test - it must be clean and in good condition. Unfit equipment will not be allowed and will delay completion of the course. New equipment may be acquired from True North Safety if needed.
